Workshop details and objectives
The session will be led by Sophie Greenwood of The Creative Incubator and is intended to help participants overcome common challenges associated with networking. It aims to provide practical techniques for artists to confidently discuss their work and creative ideas in professional settings.
Key areas covered in the workshop will include:
- Talking about oneself and one’s work
- Starting and ending conversations effectively
- Asking thoughtful and meaningful questions
- Building collaborations and partnerships
- Directing others to further information about their work or projects
Workshop format and activities
The event will feature group discussions to explore participants’ experiences and feelings about networking, including common barriers and discomforts. Collaborative idea generation will be used to identify solutions, alongside tips and strategies provided by the facilitator. Attendees will also have opportunities to practice new conversational techniques during the session.
An optional visit to the Bradford Art Show at Loading Bay will follow the workshop, allowing participants to engage with local art and potentially apply their newly learned skills in a real-world setting.
