Creative Workshop Series Explores Storytelling and Displacement

Local playwright leads free sessions at Theatre in the Mill

A new creative workshop series titled From Fragment to Fiction will take place at Theatre in the Mill, University of Bradford, this November and December. The series, led by playwright Sudha Bhuchar, aims to explore themes of displacement, resistance, and storytelling as a tool for change.

Workshop Details and Schedule

The workshops are scheduled on four consecutive Wednesdays from 12pm to 3pm, beginning on 12 November 2025. Each session will focus on a different aspect of the creative process:

  • 12 November 2025: Stimulus – Live reading and writing game
  • 19 November 2025: Research – Commonweal Archive deep dive
  • 3 December 2025: New Work – Zine-making and transmedia lab
  • 10 December 2025: Performance – Showcase at Theatre in the Mill

The series is part of the official events for Bradford’s UK City of Culture 2025 programme. It offers participants the chance to engage with local history and heritage through creative writing and performance.

Participation and Venue

The workshops are free to attend but require booking in advance. They will be held at Theatre in the Mill, located at the University of Bradford, BD7 1DP.

About the Artist

Sudha Bhuchar, the workshop leader, is the Artist-in-Residence at Theatre in the Mill. Her involvement in this project is co-commissioned by Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, reflecting the city’s commitment to fostering community engagement through the arts.
