First Glimpse of ‘It’s Our Time’ Script at Theatre in the Mill

The New Works Festival in Bradford will conclude with a special event featuring a script-in-hand performance of “It’s Our Time,” a new work-in-progress by Sudha Bhuchar. The event is scheduled for 15 November 2025, from 7pm to 8pm, at Theatre in the Mill.

About the Play and the Artist

Sudha Bhuchar, Theatre in the Mill’s Artist in Residence, has developed the piece drawing inspiration from everyday encounters across Bradford. The play is co-commissioned by Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture. Bhuchar’s storytelling approach incorporates verbatim testimony and experiences gathered from various community interactions, including:

  • Sharing chai on an allotment
  • Participating in Tai Chi and well-being sessions at Women’s Zone and Lister Mills
  • Conversations in the back of a taxi
  • Discussions with male nursing students

Bhuchar is recognised for her previous work, including the solo show Evening Conversations, and was recently awarded the 2025 Sophiya Haque Award at the Asians in Media Awards for her contributions to television, film, and theatre.
