Powerhouse to Launch Leeds Bradford Branch with Les Misérables: School Edition

Yorkshire theatre company Powerhouse is set to expand into the Leeds / Bradford area, with auditions now open for its 2026 production of Les Misérables: School Edition.

Following the company’s successful debut in Wakefield earlier this year, Powerhouse Leeds Bradford will officially launch in early 2026, offering young performers aged 9 to 18 the opportunity to take part in a professionally staged production of one of the world’s most recognised musicals. The show will be performed at Bradford Playhouse in summer 2026.

Founded by Andrew Ashley and Andy Fretwell, the creative team behind Diva Productions, Powerhouse aims to provide high-quality musical theatre experiences for young people across the region. Their Wakefield branch launched in January 2025 with a re-imagined staging of Les Misérables: School Edition, which received strong reviews and sold-out performances.

Artistic Director Andrew Ashley stated:

“After the incredible success of Powerhouse Wakefield, we’re thrilled to bring the same opportunity to young people in Leeds & Bradford. West Yorkshire is full of creative energy, and we can’t wait to discover new voices and give them the chance to shine in one of the world’s greatest musicals.”

Open Auditions

Auditions for Les Misérables: School Edition will take place at Horsforth School on Sunday the 23rd of November 2025.

Young people interested in singing, acting and dancing are encouraged to apply.
