Woven Stories Event at Nisbet Road Tailor Shop

Local community invited to share textile heritage

Attendees are encouraged to bring items or stories related to treasured textiles or family objects and share the influence these have had on their lives.

About the organisers

The event will be led by Zain Ali and Nat Joseph, both artists with backgrounds in textiles and cultural heritage.

• Zain Ali is a designer specialising in bespoke clothing and hand-woven textiles, with studios in London and Lahore. His work is informed by his upbringing across Lahore, East London, and Northwest England. He has experience designing costumes for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and curating sustainable fashion events. He has also worked with the British Fashion Council on circular fashion initiatives.
• Natasha Joseph is a Leeds-based multi-media artist and curator originally from Bangalore, India. She directs We Belong Here, an organisation focused on cross-arts engagement and making art accessible to the public. Her artistic practice explores themes of cultural difference, unity, identity, and belonging, often through collaborative and documentary approaches.
