The Revd Canon Jonathan Triffitt has been appointed as Interim Dean of Bradford Cathedral for a three-year term. The appointment was made by the Acting Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Revd Dr Toby Howarth.
Licensing Ceremony Scheduled
Canon Jonathan Triffitt will be officially licensed on Sunday 1 March at 3:00pm during a service at Bradford Cathedral. The ceremony will be officiated by the Acting Bishop of Leeds.
Background and Previous Roles
Jonathan Triffitt grew up in Bradford and first came to faith at St Augustine’s Church in the city. He trained for ordained ministry at St John’s College, Nottingham, and was ordained in the Diocese of London. His early ministry included serving as a curate at St Luke’s, West Kilburn.
Before his current appointment, Canon Triffitt has held several roles including:
- Director of Ministry and Mission and Deputy Diocesan Secretary (Bishop’s Missioner) for the Diocese of Salisbury since 2020
- Rector of Blandford Forum
- Vicar of Southbroom in Devizes
- Associate Vicar of Sherborne Abbey
- Chaplain to The Gryphon School
Prior to ordination, he worked in early years education, focusing on children aged two to three.
Personal Life
Canon Triffitt is married to Joanne, who works for Safe Families. The couple have two grown-up children. They share an interest in community-building, hospitality, exploring the Yorkshire Dales, and enjoy activities such as cooking and reading. Canon Triffitt is also a supporter of Bradford City football club.
