Upcoming Area Networks to Support Local VCSE Organisations

Community groups and voluntary organisations in Bradford and surrounding areas are being offered opportunities to participate in a series of Area Network sessions aimed at strengthening their resilience amid ongoing challenges in the voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.
Addressing funding and strategic planning challenges
The VCSE sector is currently experiencing a period marked by reduced funding, shifting priorities, and communication fatigue. With local elections scheduled for May 2026, the sector anticipates further changes in the political and operational landscape. The Area Network sessions are designed to help grassroots organisations navigate these complexities through practical support and shared learning.
Session details
- Session 1: Securing and Sharing Resources in Challenging Times
This session will focus on strategies to enhance organisational resilience, including:- Improving bid writing skills
- Conducting effective research to support funding applications
- Strategic planning for sustainability
- Building collaborations and partnerships
- Using information strategically
- Session 2: Before the Ballot
With all councillor seats up for re-election in May 2026, this session will facilitate discussions on:- Engagement strategies with the newly formed council
- Timing of outreach efforts during or after the election campaign
- Raising awareness among incoming councillors about the VCSE sector’s role
- Collective approaches to sector engagement in the democratic process
Participation and locations
Organisations can choose to attend one or both sessions. The events will take place across several areas including Bradford South, Bradford East, Bradford West, Bingley, and Silsden. Attendees are encouraged to contribute to discussions shaping the future engagement of the VCSE sector with local government.
