Potato Day Returns to Darley Street Market
January 27, 2026Annual event offers seed potatoes and family activities
The annual Potato Day is set to take place at Darley Street Market in Bradford on Saturday 28 February 2026. The event will run from 10am to 4pm and is free to attend.
Organised by the West Yorkshire Organic Group, the event will feature pop-up stalls on the Fresh Food Floor where visitors can purchase locally-grown seed potatoes. These seed potatoes will be available at 20p each, with payments accepted in cash only. Attendees are advised to bring their own bags for carrying purchases.
Seed potatoes and growing advice
The seed potatoes offered come in a variety of types, which will be announced closer to the event date. These can be planted in around a foot of soil and are expected to yield a potato harvest approximately three months later. Representatives from the West Yorkshire Organic Group will be on hand to provide guidance and advice on how to cultivate the potatoes successfully.
Family workshop: Super Potato
In addition to the seed potato sales, a special workshop titled ‘Super Potato’ will be held from 11am to 3pm. This family-friendly activity invites children to engage in potato-themed arts and crafts, including making their own “Spud-hero” characters, masks, and capes. The workshop is designed to encourage creativity and participation in a fun, themed environment.
