Beehive Poets Event at Bradford City Library

Bradford City Library will host a free poetry event on 6 March 2026, featuring renowned poet Sean O’Brien alongside poet Kristina Diprose. The event is organised by Beehive Poets and will run from 7pm to 9pm.
About Sean O’Brien
Sean O’Brien is a distinguished poet and Emeritus Professor of Creative Writing at Newcastle University. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. O’Brien’s twelfth collection of poems, The Bonfire Party, was recently published by Picador. His recent works include:

- Juniper (2024)
In addition to poetry, O’Brien has published a collection of short stories, The Long Glass, in spring 2025. He has also translated several classical works, including Dante’s Inferno, Aristophanes’ The Birds, and Lope de Vega’s The Sicilian Courtesan. His poetry has been recognised with several awards, including the Somerset Maugham, Cholmondeley, E.M. Forster, T.S. Eliot, and Forward Prizes.
About Kristina Diprose
Kristina Diprose, who will support Sean O’Brien at the event, is a poet whose work explores ecological and mythological themes. She won the inaugural Oxford Canal Festival poetry competition in 2024 and has been shortlisted for several other competitions, including the Artemesia Arts and Leeds Poetry Festival. In 2023, she was named a New Northern Poet at the Ilkley Literature Festival. Her debut pamphlet, Thin Spells, was published in September 2025 by The Black Cat Poetry Press. Diprose has also contributed short stories commissioned for Bradford 2025 in partnership with the Brontë Parsonage Museum and has appeared on BBC Front Row.
