Trustee Pam Essler awarded British Empire Medal
January 4, 2022Community Action Bradford & District are celebrating the outstanding achievements of Pam Essler, a valued trustee of ours, as she is recognised in the Queen’s New Year Honours list.
Pam, a retired teacher from Keighley, was awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for outstanding contributions to health services. After retiring from her career in 1996, Pam used her time to concentrate on the local community, working with health services to improve experiences for patients, and addressing inequalities.
Many of you will know Pam, in one way or another. She is very well known and respected in the local voluntary sector, being a trustee for Community Action and Project 6 as well as chairing Bradford Airedale Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Keighley Healthy Living. Through the years she has supported lots of local charities and health boards with her time, skills and experience.
Pam Essler said:
I feel really humbled and privileged to have been honoured and to have my contribution recognised. I work alongside many dedicated people and organisations striving to improve outcomes in our communities. My personal challenges of navigating the health system motivated me to get involved and find ways to improve services. I am proud to have helped bring the voices and experiences of local people into decision making.
