Update from Sporting & Executive Director Thomas McStravick

Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC’s Sporting and Executive Director, Thomas McStravick, has provided a detailed update on the club’s recent performances, personal challenges, and new initiatives as the season progresses.

Recent Team Performance

McStravick highlighted the team’s resilience during their recent away match against Consett, noting that despite Consett’s strong form, Bradford (Park Avenue) managed to dominate the game. However, he cautioned against complacency, referencing the team’s last home game as a reminder that every match requires full focus and effort. With several games remaining in the season, he emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards to secure a favourable position in the play-offs.

Regarding the upcoming fixture, McStravick mentioned that the opponents have faced difficulties in recent matches, and it is Bradford (Park Avenue)’s responsibility to continue applying pressure and secure positive results.

Personal Health Incident

McStravick shared a personal experience from the past week, revealing that he suffered an anaphylactic shock which required emergency medical attention and hospitalisation. He expressed gratitude towards the West Yorkshire Ambulance Service and NHS staff for their prompt and effective care. The incident occurred shortly after a family outing, during which he had taken his father to a Leeds vs Manchester City match. McStravick advised caution and preparedness for serious allergic reactions, noting the importance of carrying an EpiPen at all times.

New Club Podcast Launch

The club has recently launched an official podcast, a project that has been in development for several months. The podcast aims to enhance communication between Bradford (Park Avenue) and its supporters. McStravick acknowledged the contributions of team members involved in its creation and encouraged fans to listen, share, and engage with the content.

Supporters are invited to contribute questions or suggestions via the club’s dedicated email address: podcast@bpafc.com. The club is also seeking sponsors to support the podcast’s growth and development.

Management Reflections and Season Outlook

Reflecting on the challenges of football management, McStravick referenced an interview with Paul Clement, a coach with experience at top clubs worldwide. He noted the difference between offering opinions and making final decisions, acknowledging the pressures involved in management based on his own experience leading the team for one game.

He praised the cohesive and hardworking group surrounding the club, emphasising that despite differing opinions among supporters, the shared goal remains promotion. McStravick anticipates a season filled with twists and turns and expressed enthusiasm about competing for a play-off position at this stage.

Supporter Engagement

With the arrival of better weather, the club hopes to see increased attendance and a stronger atmosphere at home matches. McStravick encouraged fans to bring friends to upcoming games to support the team’s efforts to secure vital points.
