Fans of 1980s pop music and singer-songwriter Nik Kershaw have the opportunity to see him live in an intimate setting this May. The event, titled Musings & Lyrics: An Evening with Nik Kershaw, is set to take place on 13 May 2027 at 7:30pm at the King’s Hall and Winter Gardens in Ilkley.
Event details and background
Nik Kershaw first rose to prominence in 1984 with a series of hit singles including Wouldn’t it Be Good, The Riddle, and I Won’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me. These tracks remained on the UK Singles Chart for a combined total of 62 weeks, making him the UK’s biggest selling solo artist that year. He also performed at the Live Aid concert in 1985.
After a period focused on writing and producing for other artists, Kershaw returned to performing in 1998. His songwriting credits include Chesney Hawkes’s The One and Only, and collaborations with notable musicians such as Elton John, Lulu, Petula Clark, The Hollies, Ronan Keating, Jason Donovan, Sia, Imogen Heap, Gary Barlow, and Bonnie Tyler.
The upcoming event will coincide with the release of Kershaw’s new book. Attendees can expect a combination of live songs, personal stories, and informal conversation from the artist.
