Training and Support Available for Bradford District Trustees

July 21, 2026 Off By

New and experienced trustees in Bradford district can access training and support opportunities

Thousands of volunteers in the Bradford district take on trustee roles within charities and voluntary organisations each year. To support these individuals in their governance responsibilities, training sessions and peer support networks are being offered locally.

Upcoming Trustee Training Sessions

Community Action Bradford and District is running an open course titled Roles and Responsibilities of Trustees, designed to assist new trustees as part of their induction. The sessions are scheduled as follows:

  • 9 July 2026, 5.30pm to 7pm (online)
  • 11 November 2026, 5.30pm to 7pm (online)

The course is free for organisations with an annual income of up to £100,000. It covers key areas including:

  • The role of trustees
  • Guidelines and advice for individual trustees and boards
  • Understanding legal structures of organisations
  • Managing conflicts of interest
  • Making joint decisions
  • Meeting reporting requirements
  • Sources of further help and advice

In-House Training Options

For organisations wishing to train their entire board, tailored in-house training sessions are available. These sessions can be customised to the organisation’s governing documents and are offered both online and in person.

  • Online sessions: £90 for up to twelve participants
  • In-person sessions: £180 for up to twelve participants

Evening and daytime sessions can be arranged to suit organisational needs. For charities with an income over £100,000 per year, in-house training for more than five trustees may be more cost-effective than booking multiple places on open courses.

Organisations interested in arranging in-house training can contact Community Action Bradford and District via email at info@cabad.org.uk.

Peer Support Through Chairs and Trustees Network

In addition to training courses, a peer support network called the Chairs and Trustees Network is available. This group meets regularly to discuss topics selected by members. Upcoming meetings include:

  • 9 June 2026 – Trustee and chair recruitment
  • 14 July 2026 – Data protection and cyber security

Places for these meetings can be booked through Eventbrite.
