Local organisations discuss sustainable practices at summit

The Bradford City FC Community Foundation recently held the Greener Together Sustainability Summit at their City Hub on Valley Parade. The event brought together local organisations and stakeholders to explore ways to support and implement sustainable practices within the Bradford district.

Focus on sustainability themes and community collaboration

The summit, held alongside Bradford City AFC’s Greener Bantams initiative, featured expert speakers and group activities. Discussions centred on key themes such as waste reduction, water sustainability, and the role of physical activity in fostering healthier, more sustainable communities.

Attendees considered the significance of sustainability in promoting sporting participation and culture, the potential for sport to act as a catalyst for environmental change, and the importance of collaborative efforts for community benefit.

New initiatives and community engagement

The Foundation and Bradford City AFC have recently launched the Greener Bantams Travel Hub, supported by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. This initiative aims to improve accessibility, affordability, and sustainability of travel around Bradford and to Valley Parade.

Jody Harris of JBA Consulting described the summit as an opportunity to connect with others involved in community action on sustainability, highlighting the optimistic atmosphere and shared commitment to addressing environmental challenges.
