Low Moor 1916: A Community Remembered Through Performance

Upcoming live event explores wartime tragedy in Bradford

The Low Moor Comical Company will present Low Moor 1916, a live performance commemorating a significant event in the local history of Bradford. Scheduled for 12 September 2026, the event will take place at Aldersgate Methodist Church from 3pm to 5:30pm.

Details of the performance

Low Moor 1916 is a dramatic portrayal focusing on the impact of the First World War on the Low Moor community. The performance centres on the catastrophic explosion at a munitions factory in 1916, which resulted in the deaths of 40 people. The event is described as a tragedy that was “an accident waiting to happen.”

Six performers will bring the story to life through a combination of drama, music, and song, offering an insight into the experiences of those affected by the war and the explosion.
