Training and Support Available for Bradford District Trustees

Volunteers who serve as trustees for charities and voluntary organisations in Bradford district are being offered training sessions and networking opportunities to help them fulfil their governance roles effectively. These initiatives aim to support trustees in understanding their responsibilities and improving the management of their organisations.
Upcoming Trustee Training Sessions
Community Action Bradford and District is providing open online training courses titled Roles and Responsibilities of Trustees. These sessions are designed to assist new trustees as part of their induction and are free for organisations with an annual income of up to £100,000.
- 9 July 2026, 5.30pm to 7pm (online)
- 11 November 2026, 5.30pm to 7pm (online)
The course covers key topics including:
- The role of trustees
- Guidelines and advice for individual trustees and boards
- Understanding an organisation’s legal structure
- Managing conflicts of interest
- Making joint decisions
- Meeting reporting requirements
- Sources of further help and advice
In-House Training Options
For organisations wishing to train their entire board or tailor the training to their governing documents, Community Action Bradford and District offers in-house sessions. These can be arranged online or in person, with costs as follows:
- Online: £90 for up to twelve people
- In person: £180 for up to twelve people
Evening and daytime sessions are available, and organisations with an income over £100,000 may find in-house training more cost-effective when training multiple trustees. To arrange in-house training, organisations can contact info@cabad.org.uk.
Peer Support Through Chairs and Trustees Network
Trustees and chairs can also join the Chairs and Trustees Network, which provides peer support and discussion on relevant topics chosen by members. Upcoming meetings include:
