Local Dance Group Aims to Compete in Orlando

On Tuesday evening, the Giants Elite dance group will be visiting the Horsfall Community Stadium as part of their fundraising efforts to attend the World Championships in Orlando, Florida. The event is a significant international competition for cheer and dance teams, with entry secured through bids earned at various competitions throughout the year.

Securing the Bid to Worlds

Charley, a member of the U14s Level 2 team known as ‘Lime’, helped the group secure their place at the World Championships in May. This was achieved at the Revolution Carnival held on 9 May 2026 at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester. The team not only finished first in their division but also received a choreography award for their routine, earning them a bid to the prestigious event.

Charley has been with Giants Elite since season six and this will be her first opportunity to compete at the World Championships, now in the group’s thirteenth season.

Fundraising and Costs

The team is currently raising funds to cover essential expenses such as food, fuel, transportation, and park tickets during the trip. Each athlete faces costs estimated at around £2,500 to travel and compete at the event. Charley and her teammates are seeking personal sponsors to help meet these expenses.

Supporters can make donations or speak directly with the team during the fundraising event at the Horsfall Community Stadium on Tuesday evening.
