Renowned American organist to perform in Saltaire this July

Walt Strony, a distinguished concert organist from the United States, is scheduled to perform at Victoria Hall in Saltaire on Sunday, 12 July 2026. The concert will begin at 2.30pm and is expected to last until approximately 4.45pm.

About Walt Strony

Born in Chicago in 1955, Walt Strony began his musical education at the age of seven and made his public debut in 1974 when he was eighteen. Over the course of more than fifty years, he has built a notable career as a theatre organist. Strony was trained by Al Melgard, the legendary Staff Organist at the Chicago Stadium, known for playing silent films in the 1920s. This connection to a historic tradition is reflected in Strony’s performances, which are noted for their depth and authenticity.

Strony has performed extensively across the United States and internationally, including appearances at Radio City Music Hall in New York and twice on the Wanamaker Organ in Philadelphia, the world’s largest fully operational pipe organ. He is a two-time recipient of the American Theatre Organ Society’s Organist of the Year award (1991 and 1993) and is a member of the ATOS Hall of Fame.
