Support for Young People’s Emotional Wellbeing in Schools

Secondary school students in Bradford now have access to one-to-one counselling services through Step2, aimed at supporting their emotional wellbeing and improving their engagement with education.

Purpose of the Counselling Service

The counselling provided by Step2 is designed to assist young people with a range of issues, including:

  • Regulating their emotions
  • Managing school-related stress and exam pressures
  • Processing past traumatic or troubling experiences
  • Improving attendance and engagement in school

Addressing Emotional and Educational Challenges

By offering tailored support within the school environment, the service aims to help students cope better with the emotional challenges that can affect their academic performance and overall wellbeing. The counselling sessions provide a confidential space for young people to discuss their feelings and experiences with trained professionals.

Access and Availability

The service is available in secondary schools across Bradford, facilitating easier access for students who may benefit from additional emotional support during their school day. This approach seeks to integrate mental health support within the educational setting, recognising the importance of early intervention.

For more information about the counselling services and how they operate within schools, parents and students are encouraged to contact their school directly.
