Bradford (Park Avenue) Hosts Waterwise Fixture Against Liversedge FC
October 7, 2026Local clubs unite to promote water efficiency amid drought conditions
Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC recently dedicated their fixture against Liversedge FC to support water conservation efforts as part of a new initiative in Bradford. This event forms part of a growing partnership with Waterwise, an organisation focused on water efficiency in the UK, and the launch of the Water-Wise Sports Clubs project in the region.
Water-Wise Sports Clubs Project
The Water-Wise Sports Clubs project aims to work with grassroots football, golf, and rugby clubs to reduce water waste, lower operating costs, and raise awareness of water scarcity within local communities. The project is supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.
Yorkshire has experienced prolonged heatwaves and drought conditions recently, which have affected local sports clubs and their operations. By engaging grassroots sports clubs, the initiative hopes to reach families, volunteers, and young people who may not typically be involved in environmental campaigns.
Community Involvement and Activities
The project combines sport with practical water-saving actions to encourage sustainable habits that benefit both sports clubs and households in the area. Bradford (Park Avenue) welcomed Wyke Wanderers and BPA Juniors to Horsfall Stadium as part of the steering-group partnership supporting this initiative.
Throughout the day of the fixture, various activities took place to highlight the importance of water conservation. The clubs involved aim to demonstrate how local sports organisations can contribute to building more resilient and sustainable communities, both on and off the pitch.
Participants and spectators were encouraged to take part in the activities and support the campaign, which promotes the hashtag #waterwinning, reflecting the goal of inspiring the next generation to value and save water resources.
