Author Sally O’Reilly to Present Hagtale Reading in Haworth
October 12, 2026Upcoming event to explore lost stories and historical fiction
On Thursday 26 November 2026, author Sally O’Reilly will present an evening focused on her novel Hagtale at Wave of Nostalgia in Haworth. The event will begin at 7pm and is available both in person and online via Zoom.
About the novel and event
Hagtale is a historical novel set in eleventh-century Scotland and later periods, weaving together the stories of two characters separated by centuries. The narrative follows Wulva, a feral wolf-child raised by witches who becomes entangled with the ambitious Lord Macbeth, and Brother Rowan, who embarks on a journey to document the history of the Scottish king-line at a remote monastery three hundred years later.
The term “hagtale” refers to a dark fable traditionally told around winter fires, a form of storytelling known to Shakespeare but not previously recorded in writing until now.
During the event, Sally O’Reilly will read from her novel, discuss its themes, and answer audience questions. Copies of the book will be available for signing.
