Feasibility Studies EOI
January 20, 2023Our vision is to use arts and culture to fuel the social, economic and creative renaissance of our district; to make Bradford one of the most welcoming places in the UK where artists, producers, audiences and creative entrepreneurs can flourish.
We are looking for independent consultants and/or artists to work on four exciting Feasibility Studies across various themes and creative strands to develop the programme for Bradford 2025.
For each of the briefs, we will need to consider Our plans to embed environmental sustainability in Bradford 2025, where we will be a laboratory for change demonstrating Bradford’s clean growth strategy and its commitment to a net zero economy though new forms of cultural expression.
The creative briefs
THE MILLS ARE ALIVE A programme of work celebrating and using mills across the Bradford District as venues for events, exhibitions, performances and cultural activity of all kinds during 2025. This feasibility study will scope out the current status of the district’s mills, in order to identify potential sites and venues for the year of culture.
DISCOVERING NEW VENUES Without duplication of the above study, we wish to commission a scoping survey of existing and potential venues across the district, from established venues to potentially unusual, found or re-purposed spaces. The study will broaden consider empty and disused spaces that with some investment could be turned into new cultural and community spaces.
OUTDOOR AND RURAL SITES Bradford District is 67% rural and has many beautiful outdoor spaces and parks. This piece of work will scope out those rural and outdoor spaces that could be suitable for large scale performances, outdoor installations, exhibitions and events, working closely with Bradford Council’s culture team.
DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY Bradford Metropolitan District Council has declared a climate emergency and stated specific ambitions to reach carbon neutrality. It is therefore critical that Bradford 2025 helps progress their journey at a local level. In order to thoroughly embed positive action throughout the whole project we are seeking to work with an industry recognised consultant or agency to help us develop a sustainability code of practice and operational framework that will sit at the heart of Bradford 2025.
