Bradford Hospitals’ Charity 100 Club event announced

A successful businessman and philanthropist, who came to the UK as a refugee more than 50 years ago, is set to inspire members of the Bradford Hospitals’ Charity 100 Club with his success story and advice.

Ugandan-born Dr Manoj Joshi DL MBE arrived in the UK aged 21 and went on to successfully balance a career in the pharmaceutical industry with voluntary and charity work. He is passionate about interfaith collaboration and hopes to inspire members of Bradford Hospitals’ Charity’s 100 Club by talking about the benefits of businesses working with their community and health service.

“A health mind and body is good for business,” said Dr Joshi, who is a Deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire and received an MBE last year. “We can collaborate by giving money, our time and our intellect. “This is our NHS, so let’s give in whatever capacity we can to make it a rewarding experience for all.”

The 100 Club is an exclusive membership organisation of businesses who wish to network while supporting their NHS hospitals. At just six months old, it has has already attracted a range of different businesses from across West Yorkshire. From construction to IT companies, hospitality to printers, the Lord Mayor of Bradford to fellow charities – all members have a shared ambition to network with a purpose. The event will see members – and guests who are interested in joining – networking with doctors, nurses, senior executives from Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Bradford Hospitals’ Charity colleagues. Clinicians will showcase the projects funded by our charity, which have been made possible thanks to the generous support of the 100 Club members.

Among the projects to be highlighted at the event will be one presented by Dr Ben Wetherell. He will demonstrate how the new video laryngoscopes funded by Bradford Hospitals’ Charity will vastly improve patient care and safety. The medical instruments are used on patients undergoing general anaesthesia and the new laryngoscopes are less invasive and provide better visibility for the doctor.

He has a wealth of experience working in both the business and charity fields and his knowledge is invaluable. We also look forward to our members having the opportunity to expand their network while they contribute to the enhancement of health care services in our community.

Dr Joshi will speak at the next 100 Club event on Thursday 13 July, at the Silk Warehouse, Manningham Mills Community Centre, Bradford.
