The new market, a flagship development in Bradford city centre, is poised to become a vibrant hub for the community. The building boasts a diverse array of features across its three floors, each dedicated to enhancing the shopping and dining experience.

The top floor is designed to be a culinary destination, featuring a food and drink hall that promises to cater to a variety of tastes. Patrons can look forward to a traditional bar area, a stall selling freshly brewed coffee, and a specialised bar offering an assortment of non-alcoholic drinks, including mocktails. Dining options will offer a global culinary tour with options including Mexican, Greek, Asian, Italian, and Thai/Cantonese cuisines, along with an ice-cream parlour. Additionally, a balcony area will provide a scenic overlook of the Market Square, enhancing the dining experience with a picturesque view.

The middle floor is set to be dedicated to fresh food. Here, shoppers will find a rich selection of stalls, including butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers, and delicatessens, ensuring access to high-quality fresh produce.

The ground floor will offer a diverse mix of non-food stalls, ranging from haberdashery and hair and nail salons to gift shops, jewellery stalls, mobile phone accessories, and clothing stores.

One of the standout features of Darley Street Market is the multi purpose use of the spectacular Market Square, which can accommodate around 500 people for events and concerts. Equipped with a big screen, the square is poised to become a focal point for community gatherings. It also features a unique umbrella system, providing a versatile space for undercover pop-up market stalls and events, ensuring activities can continue regardless of the weather.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, expressed his enthusiasm about the project’s progress:

“Getting to this stage is a major milestone in this once in a generation regeneration project. We’re now moving into the fit-out stage working with traders to ensure the stalls that they are moving to are of a high standard and meet the needs of their business. We are aiming for the new Darley Street Market to be ready to be open later in the year.”
