Millside Centre are looking to hire a Café Coordinator to join their friendly, hardworking team!

Job Description

Role: Café Coordinator

Reports to: Millside Centre Manager

Rate of pay: £10 per hour, 15 hours a week.

Usual working hours: Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday – 5 hours per day for an initial 48 weeks

About the café:

The Welcome Café is a project of the Millside Centre. Funded by Bradford Council and working in partnership with Bradford College, refugees are trained in catering skills, learning basic food hygiene, cooking, customer service, and gaining work experience by helping to run the café 3 days a week. Out of the 10 students we trained last year, five are now in part-time or full-time employment. Our café was also recently nominated by the 2021 TES FE Awards for ‘contribution to the community’.

Duties Include:

  • Working with the Tutor to ensure the effective operation of the cafe
  • Supporting the Tutor and students with setting up and closing down procedures, including handling cash, and maintaining high levels of cleanliness
  • Supporting the Tutor in classroom situations when necessary
  • Helping to create rotas for the cafe
  • Ensuring that all students are fully briefed about menus and other information
  • Helping the café team to maintain an inviting and inclusive cafe space, and being supportive and available to the students
  • Working closely with the Tutor and students to ensure high levels of customer experience
  • Manage the budget of the Welcome Café
  • Managing the marketing of the café through local advertising, and creating content posts for social media, including updates on menus and special offers
  • Coordinating the ordering of stock from suppliers in conjunction with the Tutor and students
  • Building links with potential customers for catering and events
  • Inviting feedback from customers to improve the café experience and test new menu ideas
  • Coordinating and attending regular meetings between the Tutor and Millside staff as required
  • Upholding the values of the Millside Centre and actively promoting what is going on in the building
  • Any other duties relevant to the post and as requested by the Centre Manager

Essential Requirements and Experience

  1. Experience in café work or customer service role
  2. Open to direction, working collaboratively and having a commitment to get the job done
  3. Excellent communication skills
  4. Impeccable organisational and prioritising skills
  5. Ability to deal with people at all levels, understanding and reacting effectively to their needs
  6. Experience in cash handling
  7. General interest in food
  8. Must be flexible and adaptable
  9. Ability to work effectively as an individual as well as part of a team
  10. Passionate about Bradford and willing to work with people from diverse cultures

Desirable Requirements and Experience

  • ·Level 2 Food hygiene qualification
  • First aid trained
  • Experience in bookkeeping
  • Experience in social media and marketing
