
Bradford Celebrates Armed Forces Day 2025
June 25, 2025Bradford Armed Forces Day Celebrations Set for City Centre on 28 June
Armed Forces Day celebrations will take place in Bradford city centre on Saturday, 28 June, featuring a multi-faith service, heritage exhibitions and family activities.
Programme of Events
Drum Head Service – 11:00am The event will commence with a Drum Head Service at the memorial stones in Norfolk Gardens, Bradford, led by Bradford Cathedral clergy. The multi-faith service will feature a makeshift altar formed using drums, replicating acts of worship that took place in theatres of war. The West Yorkshire Fire Service band will perform during the service, which is open to all members of the public.
Heritage Exhibitions and Activities – 11:00am to 3:00pm Following the service, stalls and family-friendly activities will operate throughout the day. Exhibitors from across the district will provide information on local heritage and showcase work to preserve the memory of those who have served, including representatives from the local Covenant Partnership.
Free Family Activities Activities available to families include:
- Climbing wall
- Face painting
- Various information and activity stalls
Armed Forces Week Launch
The celebrations form part of Armed Forces Week, which begins on Monday, 23 June with the annual flag raising ceremony in Centenary Square at 11:00am.

Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Mohammed Shafiq, said:
“This event allows Bradford residents the opportunity to stand together and celebrate the men and women, both past and present, who serve our country. I hope people come along and take part in the activities on offer and celebrate Armed Forces Day here in Bradford.”
Councillor Joanne Dodds, Bradford Council’s Armed Forces Champion, commented:
“This will be an excellent and enjoyable way for the people of Bradford and the district to celebrate the achievements and sacrifices of our armed forces personnel and their families. I hope to see people enjoying the activities and appreciating the stories.”
