Bradford Cathedral Focuses on Future and Remembrance This Autumn
October 14, 2025Community and global connections highlighted in new season
As autumn unfolds, Bradford Cathedral is entering a period dedicated to reflecting on global connections and the importance of remembering the past. The cathedral aims to explore ways to reshape, reimagine, and remake the future through various initiatives and events.
New art installation symbolises hope and renewal
The cathedral will soon unveil a new sculpture titled From Rubble Reborn. This installation features a depiction of a newborn baby, symbolising aspirations for renewal and growth amid challenges.
International reconciliation and pastoral care
Canon David Porter is scheduled to lead a conversation focusing on international reconciliation. Drawing on his extensive experience, he will contribute to discussions on creating a world centred on human flourishing.
Additionally, Bradford Cathedral has welcomed a new member to its clergy team. Henriette Howarth joined at the end of September as Canon for Congregational Life. Originally from the Netherlands, she brings significant experience in spirituality and pastoral care. Her role will involve reshaping pastoral support within the cathedral community.
Season of remembrance
The autumn period is also marked by remembrance activities. The cathedral will hold gatherings to honour those who have died, both personally and in civic contexts. These events serve as poignant reminders, especially given ongoing global uncertainties.
Farewell to Bishop Nick and Linda
This month, the cathedral community bids farewell to Bishop Nick and Linda, who have served the Diocese of Leeds for over ten years. As they retire from their ministries, prayers are offered for their transition into this new phase of life.
