Beckfoot Thornton in Bradford has been closed due to a lack of water supply, affecting the school’s facilities and operations. The closure was announced on Thursday, 15 January 2026, following an issue experienced by Yorkshire Water in the local area.

Reason for Closure

The school has no access to water, which has resulted in the absence of toilet facilities. This has led the school leadership to make the decision to close the school for the day to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.

Arrangements for Students

• Students eligible for free school meals were offered a meal before leaving the premises.
• School buses were scheduled to run at the usual time at the end of the day for students who remained at school.
