Beckfoot Thornton School Closed Due to Water Supply Issue
January 15, 2026Daily School Closure Report:
Beckfoot Thornton in Bradford has been closed due to a lack of water supply, affecting the school’s facilities and operations. The closure was announced on Thursday, 15 January 2026, following an issue experienced by Yorkshire Water in the local area.
Reason for Closure
The school has no access to water, which has resulted in the absence of toilet facilities. This has led the school leadership to make the decision to close the school for the day to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.
Arrangements for Students
- Students eligible for free school meals were offered a meal before leaving the premises.
- School buses were scheduled to run at the usual time at the end of the day for students who remained at school.
- Students who use PTS taxi services were contacted individually regarding their transport arrangements.
- Families collecting children by car were directed to use the large school car park to facilitate safe and orderly collection.
The school’s headteacher, Mrs Trusselle, thanked families for their understanding and support during the disruption and promised to provide further updates by the end of the day.
