Bradford Cathedral to Host BBC1 Christmas Day Service

Bradford Cathedral has been confirmed as the venue for BBC1’s Christmas Day Service in 2025, marking Bradford’s status as the UK City of Culture that year. The service will take place on Thursday 25 December, starting at 10am.

Details of the Christmas Day Service

The service will be a traditional celebration featuring carols and readings, broadcast live from Bradford Cathedral. It will be led by the Very Revd Andy Bowerman, Dean of Bradford, together with the Revd Henriette Howarth, Canon for Congregational Life.

Bradford Cathedral’s Choir will perform under the direction of Geoffrey Woollatt, the new Organist and Director of Music. William Campbell, Sub-Organist and Assistant Director of Music, will play the organ during the service.

  • Carols performed by the choir and congregation
  • Organ accompaniment by William Campbell
  • Hymns including “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing”

Attendance Information

The service will begin at 10am, which is earlier than the usual 10:30am start time for Sunday services at Bradford Cathedral. There are no tickets for this event, and seating will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are advised to arrive by 9:30am or earlier to secure a seat.
