Bradford City to raise a cuppa to our NHS heroes

June 22, 2021 Off By admin

Bradford City staff will be joining a national outpouring of love for our NHS on 5 July to help raise money for our NHS heroes.

The NHS Big Tea – billed as the nation’s biggest tea break – will be held by NHS charities across the UK on the NHS’s birthday. People and organisations across the country will be hosting small tea parties to raise money or simply taking a break and making a donation.

All money raised by Bradford Hospitals’ Charity – the official charity partner of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – will go to its NHS Hospital Heroes Appeal, which is used to support staff.

Hayley Collis, Head of Fundraising for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, said: “Bradford City AFC has been hugely supportive of the NHS in Bradford before and during the pandemic.

“Not only have staff and players got behind our appeals, they have also auctioned match shirts and a match ball to raise money for our NHS charity, and proceeds from Bradford City branded masks sold at the height of the pandemic went to our NHS Hospital Heroes appeal.

“We’re hugely grateful that everyone at the club appreciates the heroic efforts our staff have gone to during the past year and a half in the war against Covid-19. We’re also proud to be associated with a club so supportive of its community.”

A Bradford City AFC spokesperson said: “We are proud to be celebrating the birthday of the NHS next month – with the Big Tea event – and are looking forward to raising a ‘cuppa’ for those who continue to sacrifice so much.

“Over the past 18 months, given the situation we still find ourselves in, the NHS has gone beyond the call of duty – despite the difficult circumstances the organisation has faced.

“To be showing our support for and giving back to the heroes across the country – while recognising those who do so much across the Bradford district – makes us immensely proud.

“Everyone here at Bradford City AFC is hugely grateful for the tireless efforts made by every single NHS staff member, and hopes our support of the NHS Big Tea event reflects this.

“It is incredibly important for us as a club to be supporting this, and we would like to encourage everyone to join us on July 5 to say a big ‘happy birthday’ to our fantastic NHS!”
