Bradford Hospitals Charity Named Charity of the Year at The Broadway

Local public vote selects Bradford Hospitals Charity for year-long support

Bradford Hospitals Charity has been chosen as The Broadway Bradford’s Charity of the Year following a public vote that attracted nearly 700 votes. The shopping centre invited the local community to select a charity to receive support throughout the year, with Bradford Hospitals Charity receiving the highest number of votes.

Fundraising events and activities planned

To mark the start of the partnership, The Broadway will host a fundraising event called the Teddy Bear Health Check on Saturday 21 February from 11am to 5pm. Children are invited to bring their teddy bears for a “check up” and to meet the charity team along with the mascot, Baggins the Bear. Additional activities during the day will include colouring, a teddy bear tombola, and a lucky dip.

Charity’s role and current projects

Bradford Hospitals Charity supports patients, families, and staff across Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It provides funding for medical equipment upgrades, improvements to patient environments, and initiatives to support staff wellbeing—areas that extend beyond NHS funding.

One of the charity’s current major projects is the development of a £3 million ‘Home from Home’ accommodation facility located near the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Bradford Teaching Hospitals. This facility aims to provide a supportive environment for families of newborns receiving intensive care.
