Chance to win £1,000 by supporting local enterprises

Residents of Bradford have the opportunity to win £1,000 by nominating their favourite local business in a national competition aimed at recognising outstanding businesses across the UK. The UK’s Favourite Local Business 2026 competition encourages people to highlight shops, restaurants, salons, hotels, attractions, and other services they believe deserve special recognition.

Competition details and prizes

The competition is free to enter and open to all types of businesses. The business with the most nominations will receive a £1,000 Town & City Gift Card. Additionally, one individual who nominates the winning business will also be awarded a £1,000 Town & City Gift Card. In total, £2,000 in Town & City Gift Cards, including the Bradford City Centre Gift Card, will be shared as prizes.

The Bradford City Centre Gift Card can be used at more than 120 businesses in the city. Participating retailers include national chains such as Next, Cineworld, JD Sports, and Primark, alongside independent businesses like Blossoms, Pizza Pieces, Tiffin Coffee, Nightrain, and Darley Street Kitchen.

Supporting local businesses

The competition is supported by Bradford Business Improvement District (BID), which introduced the Bradford City Centre Gift Card in 2021. Since its launch, over £250,000 worth of these cards have been sold, aiming to increase footfall and spending in the city centre.

Research from Town & City Gift Cards indicates that 99 per cent of people want to support local businesses, with 73 per cent stating that supporting local has become more important over the past year.

How to participate

  • Nominate a favourite local business through the competition platform.
  • Ensure the business is based in Bradford and falls into categories such as retail, hospitality, or services.
  • Entries are free and open to all residents.

This initiative offers a platform for Bradford residents to recognise the contributions of local businesses while potentially benefiting from gift card prizes that can be spent within the city.
