Westbourne Primary School seeks views on specialist support for pupils

Westbourne Primary School is currently consulting on plans to establish a new Local Authority (LA) led Specialist Resource Provision. This provision aims to support up to 12 primary-aged pupils who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for Communication and Interaction needs, including those on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Details of the proposed provision

The proposed Specialist Resource Provision is intended to provide targeted support for children with specific communication and interaction challenges. The focus will be on pupils who require additional help due to their diagnosis or needs related to ASD.

The consultation is part of the school’s efforts to enhance inclusive education and ensure that pupils with special educational needs receive appropriate support within their local community.

Purpose of the consultation

  • To gather feedback from parents, carers, staff, and the wider community about the proposal
  • To assess the demand and suitability of the provision at Westbourne Primary School
  • To inform decision-making about the establishment and operation of the resource provision

Next steps

The consultation period allows stakeholders to express their views and ask questions about the new provision. Following this, the Local Authority and school will consider the feedback before making a final decision on whether to proceed with the creation of the Specialist Resource Provision.

Further information and details on how to participate in the consultation can be found on the Bradford Schools Online website.
