Engagement and Wellbeing Officer

August 20, 2021 Off By admin

The Yorkshire Dales National Park is for everybody. It’s a place for activity and adventure, for mental and physical healing and an inspiration for the enquiring mind. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about this purpose to join us as our Engagement and Wellbeing Officer on a permanent, full time basis. The role is based at our Grassington office near Skipton.

About Us

We are the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, an organisation that protects, enhances and promotes the immense beauty, wildlife and character of the Yorkshire Dales. Set against expansive heather moorland tops, each valley has its own distinct charm, from crags and pavements to an underground labyrinth of caves.

The Benefits

- Salary of £23,541 to £30,451 per annum - Local Government pension scheme - Flexible working - Employee discounts on various goods and services - Free parking - Generous leave entitlement

The Role

You will develop, organise and deliver the Authority’s Engagement and Wellbeing programme to connect 1000 people a year from under-served groups to the natural environment, culture and heritage of the National Park. As part of the role, you will prepare engagement activities and deliver these to a high quality; work with recreational activity providers to design and run projects; and work alongside Dales communities.

About you

You will have the ability to inspire and motivate people to overcome the barriers they face in accessing the countryside; and be able to work in partnership with health and community providers, community groups and organisations in urban areas to open up access to hard to reach groups. You will be exceptional at group delivery, encouraging people to learn about, explore and conserve the National Park, turning a visit into a lifelong relationship. The role requires you to travel and transport groups around the National Park so a driving licence is essential.

Our recruitment process treats all job applications equally, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation or any other equality characteristic. That said, we particularly encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, as this group are currently under-represented throughout the Authority.
