Bradford Council is bringing a wave of excitement to children across the district with a series of free summer fun days in local parks and green spaces.

Over the course of several weeks, twelve parks will be transformed into hubs of activity, offering a range of engaging and entertaining activities for children aged between 5 and 14 years.

The initiative aims to provide a memorable summer experience for children, complete with a variety of activities such as a climbing tower, bouncy castles, sports games, dance sessions, arts and crafts, and much more. In addition, free, healthy lunches will be provided to children on benefits-related free school meals, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the events without worry.

The fun kicks off at Myrtle Park in Bingley on Tuesday, 30 July. Following this, the activities will move to Avenue Road Playing Field in West Bowling on Wednesday, 31 July, and then to Haworth Road Playing Fields on Thursday, 1 August.

A special highlight is scheduled for Sunday, 4 August, at Wyke Sports Village. In addition to the usual fun-filled activities, British Cycling and local cycling clubs will host a ‘Pedal Party’ offering bike-based fun for all ages. Bikes and helmets will be provided, allowing everyone a chance to try cycling in a safe and supportive environment.

The programme continues at Keighley’s Victoria Park on Tuesday, 6 August, followed by Lister Park on Wednesday, 7 August, and West Park in Girlington on Thursday, 8 August. Lady Hill Park in Allerton will host the event on Tuesday, 13 August, with Wibsey Park following on Wednesday, 14 August, and Roberts Park in Baildon on Thursday, 15 August.

The final stretch of this exciting summer series includes Menston Rec on Tuesday, 20 August, and concludes at Peel Park on Wednesday, 21 August.

Parents and guardians need not worry about pre-booking, as there is no need to reserve a spot. However, children will be asked to register their name and school upon arrival.

These events are generously funded by the Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) and JU:MP, ensuring that the fun is both accessible and plentiful.
