Join #TeamLordMayor at the starting line
February 9, 2023Bradford’s Lord Mayor is calling on runners of all abilities to join his team to tackle the Leeds Marathon or Half Marathon in aid of the BIG Neonatal Appeal.
The Lord Mayor Councillor Martin Love, Lady Mayoress Helen Love, and The Lord Mayor’s Appeal Chair Hawarun Hussain, have so far signed up to run as part of #TeamLordMayor.
Bradford Hospitals’ Charity is the Lord Mayor Appeal’s chosen charity for 2022/23, with all funds going to the BIG Neonatal Appeal. The appeal aims to raise money to create accommodation for parents who have poorly babies in the Neonatal Unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
The Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will start and end at Headingley Stadium on 14 May 2023, and will take in some of the city’s most scenic countryside and outer suburbs.
Councillor Love, who along with his wife Helen, is a member of Saltaire Striders, said: “Our training is slightly behind schedule due to us both having Covid19 at Christmas, but we are making up for lost time and looking forward to the challenge ahead!
“We would love other runners to join our #TeamLordMayor and help us raise funds for the BIG Neonatal Appeal. If you can’t manage running the 26 miles, then there is also a half-marathon option within the same event. If you can’t manage that, please dig deep and donate to this wonderful cause.”
