March 23 News

March 1, 2023 Off By admin

Hey there,

I can’t believe that we’ve had 2 months of 2023 already! Probably because the ‘Cost of Living’ crisis is having such a big impact on local families who are struggling the most.

In the last 2 months we’ve fed nearly 3000 people (2945 to be exact!), a 30% increase on last year and I’ve never seen our food stocks this low.

If you’d like to donate food, there are lots of ways you can:

1)     Drop off food at Jubilee Centre, Asda Cemetery Road or Rooley Lane, Tesco on Valley Road.

2)     You can do an online shop and have it delivered to Jubilee Centre, Jermyn Street, BD1 4EJ

3)     You can donate cash here.

Thank you of all the help you’ve given us in the past, you’ve helped people like Lucy, who said:

I came into foodbank when I was pregnant and in temporary accommodation as we’d had to spend money on baby things. I’ve come more recently and got an electricity grant too.

Getting the food massively helped and when you are struggling not knowing where your next meal is coming from its drastic, but everyone understands and doesn’t judge you. I was shocked by how good the food was, I got frozen pork chops and everything.

Volunteering here has changed my views on everything – you are like role models to me. I’ve come a long way from suicidal thoughts and hospital admissions to being happy in myself and being grateful for what I’ve got.
