NHS hospital staff are roaring to go at this year’s Bradford Dragon Boat Festival.

Nine teams, made up of colleagues from across Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and neighbouring NHS Trusts are raising money for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity.

The festival will take place on the weekend of 1-3 July at Robert’s Park, Saltaire, with the charity day on Sunday 3 July.

The famous Breaking Waters team, representing midwives and maternity staff from the Women and Children’s Unit, will again compete. They will be joined by the aptly named Liquid Assets, from the Trust’s finance department, GastROW Dragons, from the gastroenterology department, X-Raycers, made up of radiology staff, Neonatal Ninjas, from the Neonatal Unit, Children’s Champions, from the Children and Young People’s Unit, Community Cavaliers (paediatric community team), Paddle as One, who are made up of staff from organisations across the health partnership in Bradford District and Craven, and a team from the Bradford District and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group.

Hayley Collis, Head of Fundraising for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, said: “We have raised more than £30,000 over the years by taking part in this iconic event in Saltaire. The festival atmosphere always lifts everyone’s spirits.

“Our NHS staff across the Trust love taking part with their colleagues and friends because it’s a fantastic chance to bond and lift morale. It also gives them chance to raise money for projects across our hospitals which mean a lot to them.”

Bradford Hospitals’ Charity still has one boat up for grabs, so if any local businesses are interested in taking part on behalf of the charity, please contact the fundraising team on 01274 274809.
