Organist Completes Yorkshire Heritage Way Walk
March 25, 2026Geoffry Woollatt completes 42-mile walk to raise funds for Bradford Cathedral Choir
On 13 March, Geoffry Woollatt, Organist and Director of Music at Bradford Cathedral, completed a fundraising challenge by walking the entire Yorkshire Heritage Way. The route stretches from Ripon Cathedral to Bradford Cathedral, covering approximately 42 miles over two days.
The walk involved navigating varied terrain, including uphill and downhill sections, muddy tracks, and rainy conditions. Mr Woollatt returned to Bradford Cathedral following the trek, where he was welcomed by the cathedral community.
Funds raised to support Bradford Cathedral Choir
The fundraising effort raised over £3,500 to support the Bradford Cathedral Choir. The choir has been a central part of the cathedral’s life for centuries, with choristers receiving guidance from professional musicians. The funds will help cover costs associated with the choir’s activities, including an upcoming tour to Scotland in May.
The tour will provide choristers with the opportunity to perform in other cathedrals and churches, allowing them to gain new experiences and reach new audiences. It also offers a chance for personal development and social engagement among the choir members.
Supporting the fundraising effort
Donations to support Mr Woollatt’s fundraising walk are still being accepted. Contributions will continue to assist the choir’s ongoing activities and tours.
