The Cathedrals Cycle Relay 2022

June 6, 2022 Off By admin

In 2021 the Cathedral Cycle Route was launched and England’s cathedrals welcomed hundreds of cyclists tackling many of the 42 stages. Some for spiritual purposes, a kind of pedal pilgrimage, others for a clear mind and an opportunity to explore our wonderful cathedrals and the spaces between them. Whatever your purpose, we would love you to enjoy the CCR and of course collect your stamps and stickers along the way.

The well-travelled and blessed bronze baton set off from Newcastle (the most northerly diocese of the Anglican Church in England) on Mon 6th June and after 2000 miles and 42 cathedrals it will return, having raised money for a good causes and raised awareness of the CCR cycle route.

In 2021 the baton was passed from cyclist to cyclist, traveling the 2000 miles clockwise around the UK. In 2022 the journey will take place in reverse…that’s anti-clockwise as opposed to cycling backwards 🙂

Cyclists will be able to join relay for as short or as long a leg as they like and are welcomed to join as many sections as they wish*
