Yuvel Soria: AJAYU Transitorio
April 11, 2022Fri 8 Jul | 2pm & 7.30pm | Bradford Cathedral | Pay What You Decide
AJAYU Transitorio is inspired by the traditional celebration of Day of the Death in Bolivia which celebrates the eternal, providing one day a year for the living to be reunited with the departed.
Combining contemporary multi-cultural dance styles (including Bolivian dance, Kuchipudi dance, Afro-Diaspora styles) with atmospheric percussive world music and poetry, AJAYU Transitorio, is a live performance installation that explores the traditions, relationships with food, death and dying through the magic of traditional rituals and cultural practices.
Imagine the coming together of multi-cultural people to take a seat around a long, beautifully dressed table, with colourful printed cloths, flowers, candles and food. Together we all ‘break-bread’ and take part in conversations about our traditions, rituals, and memories of loved ones, all interspersed by live dance, poetry and music.
Through recent times, communities have endured trauma, loss and isolation. This work offers a chance for healing through bringing people together to eat, talk, connect, celebrate loved ones and remember those we have lost, and celebrate the strength in each of the communities we visit.

Fri 8 Jul | 2pm & 7.30pm | Bradford Cathedral | Pay What You Decide
All our events are Pay What You Decide, which means you don’t have to pay until after you have seen the event. We want to encourage more people to come and see events at Kala Sangam, more often.
Pay What You Decide not only allows you to pay what you can afford, rather than a fixed ticket price, but also removes the financial risk of buying a ticket for an event in advance without knowing whether you are going to enjoy it or not.
Tickets are available to book in advance as usual, but there is no obligation for you to pay until after you have seen the event. You can then decide on a price which you think is suitable based on your experience, which means if you haven’t enjoyed it at all, you don’t have to pay anything.
Please ensure you have arrived and collected your tickets 15 minutes before the event starts in order to secure your seats. At the end of the show, you can decide what to pay, either by cash or card on the door.

If you have ANY coronavirus symptoms, please DO NOT attend.
