Bradford City have confirmed the permanent signing of defender Joe Wright on a two-year contract.

Wright, a commanding 6ft 4in centre-half, joins the Bantams after a successful spell with Scottish Premiership club Kilmarnock, where he made 36 appearances across all competitions, including matches in Europa League and Conference League qualifiers.

He arrives in Bradford with extensive experience in the English Football League, notably making almost 100 appearances in Sky Bet League One during his time with Doncaster Rovers.

The defender earned recognition for his performances last season, being named Kilmarnock’s Player of the Year after contributing two goals and two assists.

Commenting on his move, Wright expressed enthusiasm about joining Bradford City:

“I had a conversation with the manager and Chris Lucketti; they did not need to sell the club to me — I was just so excited to come here. Seeing those scenes on the final day and getting the promotion was a real draw for me to join the club.”

Bradford City manager Graham Alexander highlighted Wright’s suitability for the team, stating:

“After watching Joe play, meeting him, and speaking to a few people, we believe he fits the profile of player and person we want to bring in. He has excellent attributes as a defender and knows the level well. We are all looking forward to working with him.”

Wright will be sponsored by The Trusted Therapist, with the transfer subject to relevant EFL and international clearances.
