Bradford (Park Avenue) to field young squad against South Leeds

Bradford (Park Avenue) will begin their West Riding County Cup campaign on Tuesday 27 October with a First Round match against South Leeds at the Horsfall Community Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:45pm.

Team selection and recent form

Manager Craig Elliott has indicated that the club will primarily use reserves and academy players for this cup tie. This approach aims to preserve the fitness of the first team ahead of their upcoming Northern Premier League East Division fixture away at Consett AFC on Saturday.

The Bradford (Park Avenue) Reserves have had a positive start to their season in the West Yorkshire Association Football League Division One, currently sitting fourth in the table. They have won six of their 11 league matches so far, including a recent 3-2 victory over Leeds City. The young squad will look to carry this momentum into the cup match on Tuesday evening.

Previous County Cup performance

In last season’s West Riding County Cup, Bradford (Park Avenue) progressed to the Third Round after wins against Pontefract Collieries and Selby Town. Their run ended with a 3-1 defeat to Barnoldswick Town at the Horsfall Community Stadium.

South Leeds’ season and prospects

South Leeds, who compete in the Northern Counties East League Division One, have struggled in their league campaign. They have recorded just one win in their opening 17 fixtures and currently sit at the bottom of the table. This position follows the resignation of Doncaster City from the division last month, which led to the removal of Doncaster’s playing record from the standings.

Tuesday’s cup match offers South Leeds an opportunity to improve their season and gain confidence with a positive result.
