Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC and the Bradford (Park Avenue) Sports Foundation recently held a meeting with representatives from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) to discuss potential partnership initiatives. The discussions focused on developing projects that could benefit the football club, the Foundation’s community programmes, and local residents.
Meeting attendees and key focus areas
Community Director Mathew Everett represented Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC and the Sports Foundation during the meeting. He met with Kunaal James Wharfe and Lindsay Beresford FCIPD from Leeds Bradford Airport to explore ways to work together in several areas. The group identified three main themes for further development:
- Careers & Aspirations: Creating pathways and opportunities for post-16 students linked to Leeds Bradford Airport. This includes careers engagement activities, workplace visits, and potential routes from education to employment for young people involved with the club and Foundation.
- Charity Football Match: Planning a football match involving Leeds Bradford Airport staff aimed at promoting wellbeing, teamwork, and fundraising for community projects.
- Advertising & Visibility: Exploring sponsorship and visibility opportunities to strengthen the connection between Leeds Bradford Airport and Bradford (Park Avenue), supporting the growth of both organisations.
Shared objectives and next steps
The meeting highlighted a mutual commitment to supporting young people, creating opportunities, and promoting the Bradford district through collaborative efforts. The discussion was facilitated with the assistance of Humayun Islam BEM BCAc, an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Consultant, who helped connect the two organisations.
Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC and the Sports Foundation intend to continue developing these ideas with Leeds Bradford Airport, aiming to establish a strong and long-term partnership that benefits the local community.
