Bradford (Park Avenue) Aim to Regain Top Spot

Upcoming Northern Premier League East Division Fixture

Bradford (Park Avenue) will host Ashington AFC at the Horsfall Community Stadium on Saturday 17 October, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm. The match presents an opportunity for Bradford to reclaim first place in the Northern Premier League East Division following recent shifts at the top of the table.

Current League Standings and Form

Bradford (Park Avenue) briefly moved to the summit after a 2-1 victory against local rivals Liversedge FC, thanks to two goals from Robbie Fox. However, Liversedge regained top position with a 1-0 win over Blyth Spartans in a midweek fixture, holding a one-point lead despite having played four more games than Bradford.

Bradford remain unbeaten in the league this season, extending their run to 11 games. This consistency has been maintained despite a number of injuries affecting the squad in recent weeks.

Ashington’s Recent Performance

Ashington enter the match positioned third from bottom in the league’s relegation zone. Their recent form has improved following a notable 4-0 away victory against Lincoln United, a team competing for promotion. This win ended a sequence of five consecutive defeats for Ashington.

Noah Cunningham was a key figure in that victory, scoring a hat-trick, with Josh Gilchrist adding a fourth goal. Cunningham’s recent goal-scoring form, with four goals in his last three appearances, will be a particular focus for Bradford’s defence.

Previous Meetings Between the Clubs

• In the previous season, Bradford secured a 2-1 home win against Ashington with goals from Joe Ackroyd and Kareem Hassan-Smith.
• The away fixture saw Bradford win 4-0 at Woodhorn Lane, with Adam Haw and Marcus Carver each scoring twice.

Match Significance and Expectations

Bradford will aim to extend their unbeaten league run to 12 games and strengthen their challenge for the league title. A victory, combined with Liversedge dropping points at Matlock Town, would allow Bradford to return to the top of the table.

Ashington will be looking to build on their recent success and improve their league standing. The visitors are expected to be motivated following their midweek win.
