Bradford (Park Avenue) Launches Player Development Programme

New initiative aims to support young footballers in progressing their careers

Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC has introduced a new player development programme called Your Chance, designed to assist talented young footballers in advancing their football careers and personal development. The initiative focuses on providing structured support to players who have faced setbacks or missed opportunities within professional football environments.

Programme Overview

Your Chance is a fully funded development scheme that recognises the varied journeys of young players. It specifically targets those who have been released from professional academies as well as those who have yet to experience professional-level football. The programme aims to offer a professional-style environment where participants can improve their skills, develop as individuals, and explore opportunities in football, education, and employment.

Two Age-Specific Programmes

• Your Chance U16 – Developing Potential
  This programme caters to approximately 17 to 20 players under the age of 16. It includes those released from academies and those aspiring to reach that level. The U16 scheme offers structured coaching sessions on Monday evenings, individual development plans, and a tailored competitive games programme. Emphasis is placed on technical, tactical, physical, and personal growth. The U16 programme is funded until the end of the 2026/27 season.
• Your Chance U19 – Creating the Next Opportunity
  Targeting up to 20 unsigned players under 19, particularly those released by professional clubs, this programme provides a professional-style training environment. Sessions take place during the day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Players receive individual development plans, performance support, and a bespoke games programme. The scheme supports progression through several pathways, including:
  • Returning to professional football
  • Advancing into Bradford (Park Avenue)’s First Team
  • Securing paid non-league football opportunities
  • Combining football with higher education at UK universities
  • Exploring football and educational options through US colleges
  Alternative education, training, and employment opportunities are also supported.

Development Approach and Ambitions

The programme is led by the club’s Academy Director, who also acts as Head Coach. It combines high-quality coaching with individual assessments, development planning, and regular performance reviews. The approach focuses on:

• Encouraging self-awareness regarding players’ strengths and areas for improvement
• Building positive relationships to support player outcomes
• Incorporating performance analysis, video feedback, and physical monitoring as resources become available
