Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC have confirmed that Yianni Abbas has signed a contract to join the club’s First Team squad. This marks a significant step in the player’s development, having advanced through the club’s Football Education pathway over the past three seasons.
Development through Football Education and senior football experience
Abbas has been involved in the club’s Football Education Programme, initially completing the BTEC Level 3 course before moving on to the HNC Level 4 programme this season. Throughout this period, he has featured regularly for the Reserves and represented the Under-19s, gaining experience in senior football.
During the current campaign, Abbas has trained consistently with the First Team. His performances and attitude reportedly impressed the management staff, leading to his promotion to the senior squad. He will now be eligible to play across all levels, including the U19s, Reserves, and First Team.
Additional playing experience and club comments
Earlier this season, Abbas also gained further men’s football experience by signing for Thackley AFC in August, alongside teammate Josh Owen. This move was seen as an important part of his development.
First Team Manager Craig Elliott commented on the signing, stating that Abbas had earned his place through impressive displays in training. Lead Coach Owen Murphy highlighted Abbas’s hard work, patience, and improvement over the years, praising his attitude and maturity both on and off the pitch.
First Team striker Marcus Carver described Abbas as an intelligent and talented player with an eye for goal, noting his eagerness to learn from senior players. Vice Captain Jameel Ible also praised Abbas’s skill and confidence in training, expressing hope that he would soon make his mark in competitive matches.
