About the Book
The novel centres on Ali Dawson, a police detective who leads a unit specialising in cold cases so old that her team must use time travel to solve them. However, the team has been unable to time travel since their technical expert, Jones, became trapped in Victorian London.
In the new story, Ali investigates the apparent suicide of a young man who fell from a high building. She suspects a psychic medium, Barry Power, who claimed he could help the boy fly, may be linked to the death. During her investigation, Ali attends one of Power’s shows where he claims to be in contact with Jones.
When Ali’s cat, Terry, goes missing, she attempts to travel back in time briefly to prevent the cat from escaping but ends up in Victorian London. There, she encounters Jones, Power, and Cain Templeton, a mysterious figure connected to her previous time-travel experiences.
