Kintsugi Ceramics Workshop Scheduled for January in Bradford

Learn the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi at South Square

A Kintsugi ceramics workshop is set to take place on 15 January 2027 at South Square in Bradford. The session will run from 1pm to 2:30pm and is designed for beginners interested in exploring this ancient Japanese technique.

Workshop Details

The workshop will be led by conservator Amelia Bedson, who will guide participants through the process of Kintsugi, which involves repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer. This technique embraces the philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection by highlighting the cracks and repairs rather than disguising them.

Participants will have the opportunity to safely break pottery and then repair it using the traditional Kintsugi method. All necessary materials and tools will be provided in a personal toolbox for each attendee.
