About the Northern Star Organ Trio

The trio was formed in 2023 when three long-time friends discovered a strong musical connection. The group consists of:

• Bob Birch – Hammond organ. Bob is known for his work with the New Mastersounds, a funk and jazz fusion band with extensive touring experience across Europe and the US since 1998.
• Rob Bromhead – Guitar. Rob leads Baildon Guitar School and has a broad background in jazz, blues, jazz rock, and gypsy jazz.
• Bruce Renshaw – Drums. Bruce studied drums, piano, and composition at Leeds College of Music and has performed in a variety of musical settings including rock, jazz, big bands, and musicals.

The trio’s repertoire includes instrument soul classics, rare groove tracks, and original compositions, with influences drawn from 1960s Blue Note recordings.

The Yardfest series is a collaboration between MHM and Yardfest Saltaire, designed to offer live jazz music on Friday evenings throughout the year. The Northern Star Organ Trio’s performance is part of this ongoing initiative to support jazz in the region.
